Is it possible for a treatment center to destroy records of past patients?

. At the request of former resident? This center not only for drug and alcohol abuse, but also a transitional housing (only works on grants). She was thrown out after it for 10 months, but not for drugs or alcohol or anything illegal. She wants no evidence of her involvement in a treatment, is this possible? After seven years there. But I think the law that its center must have on record for so long. Doctors, hospitals and treatment needed for patient records (mostly 10 + years I think) to hold. Not only can they destroy a whim, and certainly not just any involvement in a plant to hide. Sorry.
